Good morning!
Do you like the cold? I do! There’s something about winter weather that delights me. I enjoy the season of sweaters, coats, and mittens. This week my morning walk begins with air so cold that your breath is visible outside. The area is beautiful walks and parks as well as commerce and traffic. I try to step away where ever I am for early morning photo walks, though this morning I forgot to grab my camera.

What are the snapshots of your life in this season? My life as a fifty-eight year old is full of treasured snapshots this season.
When I think of my current life, the snapshots that come to mind are family evenings in the den with a crackling fire in the black iron stove, an elder labrador stretched out warming her belly, Mr Bingley, the shih zhu snoring while we catch up the day. Tomas the cat lowering himself to be part of the human conversation and providing a backdrop of purring softly as Les strokes him.
Another snapshot is laughter at the new to us island, friends or clients with coffee or cocoa cups in hand sharing what’s up in their world while I create something for us in the kitchen. The cottage is still very much in construction but gathering is always in style with close friends.

Snapshots of the prairie as it changes from its green grasses of summer to the rich waving golds of fall and winter. The rugged terrain of NE Oklahoma is breathtakingly beautiful this time of year as we go into winter and I love to see its raw beauty. The Ozark mountains are chiseled as if to say, this was hard, but this is really what we are…beauty in the boldness of winter.

The children are grown and the snapshots no longer include time with them daily. We are fortunate that Madison is with us and two of the older ones in nearby towns with their beloved spouses and we gather as schedules allow. Snapshots of family time vivid still as they grew up in our blended family home. Snapshots of their presence like shadows in every December decoration, their presence even in their absence.
I seem to disrupt weather each time I travel, this week was supposed to be just cold, now its tornadoes in the south and rain and snow where I am. I love snow, so its a joy to me to see it, just hoping it isn’t a mess to function in.
I’m sure missing my peeps at home, but know they are having a grand time doing all the things Mom doesn’t do…and I know they are having a blast with the menus…Madi and Les love all the junk, so there will be creative menus this week I’m sure.
Today it’s more time with a treasured client, then a friend is coming to the same hotel tonight as a mini get away before the holidays. Tomorrow I teach a workshop in the Lehigh Valley for book authors and publishers with SahlComm.
What’s on your agenda today? What snapshots are you living this season?
Love to you and yours!
Sweetie!
